Good Eats on Saturday, July 11

Needless to say I have been eatin' good here at the beach! Some of my favorites include fun beach food--Boardwalk Fries and soft pretzels. But, best of all is the yummy local produce--blueberries, peaches, strawberries, tomatoes, and CORN. Tonight I was having so much fun with my corn, I refused to eat anything else. I would call out "COB" when I ran out of corn and needed a new piece. Yum--summertime treats, good eats!

Body Surfing on Friday, July 10

The plan was to enjoy a leisurely picnic dinner on the beach. I was just to hang out, enjoy the pizza, and play in the sand. But, it was not long before I walked really fast (since I don't run yet) toward the ocean... It calls me!
And, I just played and played in the surf. Even getting knocked down by a wave or two only to get and chase the tide again!

Chillin' by the Pool on Wednesday, July 8

We enjoyed another day at the beach today. I tell you--this sea air makes me silly, hungry, and sleepy all at seemingly appropriate times! We also hit the pool today. I am still not crazy about the big pools. Can't decide if it is the cold water or the depth... I was much more content to chill poolside, applaud Pop's splashes, and play in the water fountain! I would like to send a special shout-out to my dad who had to stay behind to work on a big go-live project. I miss you, Daddy!

Summertime Part 2: At the Beach

Beach Bummin' on Tuesday, July 7

We arrived at the beach yesterday late afternoon for the first part of our July beach time. After dinner we went down to the beach so I could put my feet in the sand and get some ice cream--my first touches and tastes of beach 2009! Once on the beach, I loved the sand and made a beeline for the ocean. My mom had to hold me back! So I was content to dig in the sand with the promise of more beach time. This morning we enjoyed some time on playground, and then it was back to the beach! I could not get enough of the ocean. I played chase with the waves, laughed when the ocean splashed in my face, and tried to get away from my mom's grip. I also just loved playing in the sand with my sand toys and did a pretty good job of not eating too much. I can not wait to do it all again tomorrow. But, first a nap! Hopefully tomorrow my mom will just let go!

Rooting for the Home Team on Sunday, July 5

Today I went to my first major league baseball game. I loved all the sights and sounds at the stadium--the music, the cheers, the bright lights (even though it was a day game), the folks that sat behind us, and the jumbotron. Now, as for sitting still in my seat... I made it through a few innings. And, they were exciting innings--lots of hits, a stolen base, and even our Nats pitcher, Olsen, hit a single to drive in a run! We then walked around the stadium, ate a yummy pretzel, and then after the president's race (GW won!), we headed home. It was a great afternoon at the ball park! And, though we did not make it to the end of the game, it was a Nationals victory, 5-3.

Lovin' a Parade on Saturday, July 4

It was a great day for a parade. And, I enjoyed riding in our neighborhood's annual July 4th parade. We decorated my stroller and joined the gaggle of other neighborhood kids on bikes, scooters and in wagons and strollers; we made our way up Four-Mile Run in front of my beloved Mace Park. Parents cheered from the side. After, more festivities with cake and watermelon, a fire truck, and of course lots of kids at the park to play. Later in the evening we enjoyed a cookout, more time in the park, and our own fireworks in the back yard. It was quite a good display, and I have added "fireworks" to my growing vocabulary. Happy Independence Day!

Cupcake Mission on Wednesday, July 1

We went into Georgetown today to get cupcakes for my mom's book club and to make my ill-feeling dad feel better (note to self: hope for Georgetown Cupcakes when I am not feeling well). But, on our cupcake mission we saw so much more! We walked along the canal and saw ducks, a really big turtle, and then we saw horses pulling a barge through the canal. That was pretty cool! And, of course, we got the cupcakes--yum! Later in the day, Annabel, our neighbor, came over to play with me. I had such a good time with her--she made me laugh the whole visit except by the end I was was worn out. I say her name quite well, though it sounds a bit like "animal", and then I continued to call it out the rest of the evening, hoping she would just appear. My mom is ready to hire five-year old Annabel as her mother's helper!

Summertime!

Picnicking on Sunday, July 28, 2009

For the end of June, we are enjoying these pleasant, low humidity days! Today I enjoyed a picnic in the park with Grandma, Mom, and Dad. In this photo, I am sharing my blueberries and strawberries, and I do not just share those with anyone! Later this evening when dining on PF Changs, Grandma introduced me to Chicken Lo Mein, and I loved it!

Ice Cream on Saturday, June 27

This weekend, I have been enjoying a nice visit with my grandmother. She flew in from Norfolk on Thursday and is with us until Monday--it is a lot of fun having her around! After a fun day of playing, both inside and at the park, we went to Diary Godmother for dessert just over in DelRay. If it is good enough for Sasha and Malia Obama (they went there last Saturday) then it is good enough for me! Actually, that has been on our summer to do list to visit Diary Godmother for their famous frozen custard. I have to say, I was not that interested. Instead, I just enjoyed watching the crowds of grown ups, kids, babies, and dogs lining up for their ice cream--the Obama Effect! We have lots more planned with Grandma, so more pictures soon.

Sprayed on Monday, June 22, 2009

I woke up to a beautiful Monday morning and couldn't wait to get outside. After my morning nap, which I am still hanging onto, we went to Lyon Village Park, which includes a spray park. What fun! At first, I didn't know whether to love or hate the water park--the shooting sprinklers, the falling water, and the unpredictability of the sprays. But, I got into it... literally. It was also lots of fun watching the big kids jump and play around. And, if that wasn't enough fun, I also played in the sand box (until I started eating it, of course) and enjoyed a swing ride.

Go Daddies on Sunday, June 21

We continued our father's day celebration down on the Cove. I had such a wonderful time with my family, especially my cousins, and I loved Jellie, the black lab. I was feeding her crackers and she nibbled on my fingers--it made me laugh! And, I took my first boat ride. I loved the wind and spray from the water. Ah, summertime! It makes me smile.

Celebrating on Sunday, June 21

It is a weekend of celebrations. Happy Father's Day to all dads, with a special shout out to my Dad, grandfathers, great-grandfather, and uncles! My mom and I made a special breakfast this morning for Dad (and for all other dads to enjoy visually and virtually). Well, actually, I sat in my high chair and watched patiently (as long as my mom kept feeding me blueberries). This picture captures some brief morning sun we had. Hopefully, the sunshine will return for this afternoon's festivities with my cousins. Yesterday, was another celebration--my mom and dad's five year anniversary! Whoa! They headed downtown for a special dinner and to see King Lear (with Stacy Keach-awesome!) while I played with YaYa and stayed up late.

Hiking on Sunday, June 15

Today we headed out to Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane, Virginia. It is a wonderful park in the Blue Ridge Mountains with lots of trails, including access to the Appalachian Trail. When we got there, we picnicked and roamed. And, then we did a fairly easy hike to the top of a mountain for great views of meadows and farms. Our hiking song was my favorite, Old McDonald. I sing the "E-I-E-I-O" part. Of course, it was an easy hike for me since I rode in the backpack. Dad took me on the way up, and Mom had me on the way down. By that time, I was a bit worn out (see how I put my head down). Following a quick stop to a favorite winery, Naked Mountian, I slept all the way home!

Moppy and Pop on Monday, June 8

After this week, my mom is done with school. I just want to take this opportunity to thank Moppy and Pop for ALL of the great days we have had over the past school year. How lucky I am! Today was a typical fun day with Moppy and Pop. We walked to Scoop Beauregard's for donuts and ice cream. I am so thankful to Moppy and Pop for introducing me to those treats and for helping me meet my friend Nancy. (See her in the background of this picture. She keeps me well fed with free ice cream!) We also played on the computer at www.starfall.com. Pop knows all of my favorite pages! We had so many busy days just like today. We also did things such as attend Kindermusik classes, invent new games with cups, play at the park, and so much more! I will miss spending that special time with you each week. Love you lots!

Lions and Tigers and Bears on Sunday, June 7

With the sun beating down and the humidity making its mark on our summer, we headed to the National Zoo. I loved the Amazonia exhibit with all of the fish and stingrays. And, the gorillas were great to watch, especially the momma with her new baby (born back in January). I got a big laugh when we were in the Monkey House, and I pointed to one of the orangutans and called out DAD-DY! (That has come to be my term for endearment. I actually call lots of people Daddy... I will figure it out soon.)

A Walk in the Park on Saturday, June 6

I thought I would share more about my Saturday. So, my mom could work on her report cards, Dad and I took a walk to the park. Mace Park is our little neighborhood park, and it is full of discarded toys. I love them! There are at least four of these little cars. I can't quite make it go on my own yet, but it is fun to be pushed around until my feet start to drag and slow me down!

Splashing on Saturday, June 6

A new favorite summer pastime--splashing! I got this great water table, and I have been enjoying splashing and throwing toys in and out. Now, if my parents would just put me in a swimsuit... I wouldn't end up as one soggy little boy!

Tastes of Summer on Saturday, May 30

It is a Mommy and me weekend as it is now Daddy's turn to get away with his pals. So far, our day's activities have included a morning with my aunt and uncle, a trip to the farmer's market, and a skateboard competition. And, the day is only half done. Here I am enjoying one of our many treats from the market!
