Candy, Candy on Sunday, October 31, 2010

I have enjoyed many candy-filled days lately! I think I could get used to this! It all started on Thursday, my Dad's birthday, when we threw away all of my diapers (except a few nighttime ones). I was introduced to big boy underpants and extreme potty training (in some circles they call it potty training boot camp; my mom just calls it messy!). My potty training includes rewards for my successes--two jelly beans and a big sticker on my potty chart. I also get a little sticker for trying. So, it took me about 36 hours to catch on, and now I am getting candy all of the time. If that wasn't good enough, it was Daddy's birthday and Halloween weekend. Party! And, then the pinnacle was trick-or-treating! After a few houses, I really got into it and started sprinting down the sidewalk to the next house leaving my poor pal, Connor, in the dust. It was only the costume-wearing that did not appeal to me during this holiday season. I resisted the empty bribes of no costume, no candy--Really, Mom. The plan was that I would be Yoda, while my parents were my young Jedis in training. I talked a good game leading up to Halloween, excitedly telling friends that I was going to be Yoda and practicing my line, "Judge me by my size, do you?" But, I just did not like the costume once adorned, so we improvised. For one party, I wore a shirt we painted. I was the "masterpiece", and my parents were the starving artists (in particular, my dad was Van Gogh, notice his bandaged ear). On Halloween night, I was happily a construction worker. But by the end of the night, my hat was lost, my tools gone, and it was just me and my bag of candy (though a little soggy; I got caught up in the excitement).
