We enjoyed our morning in Roanoke,

spending it at the Mill Mountain Zoo and surrounding park. The zoo is a great treasure tucked away in the mountain; it is small and quaint. It is also shady and full of unique animals, especially birds. My favorite was the prairie dog, my dad's was the snow leopard, and my mom liked the red panda.

The zoo also features a train ride, traveling around the perimeter to see another side of the exhibits and great mountain views. We also enjoyed some of the play equipment surrounding the zoo and ran lots to get the wiggles out before we got back into the car to finish out our journey. This time I slept a majority of the ride and was so pleased to arrive at the cabin. Though I was most excited that we passed the Davy Crockett Mini Golf just as we turned up the road leading us to our cabin. Obviously, that will be on our agenda this week. We intend to be be full-fledged tourists this week, enjoying the bright side of Gatlinburg and the natural side of the Smoky Mountains. Our cabin is awesome.

I remarked, "I have never stayed in a cabin like this before." We arrived with not much time but to explore just a bit and swing on our back porch.
