On our last full day of vacation, we all got to pick something special to do:

Dad chose a hike, Mom chose to visit the arts and crafts community here in Gatlinburg, and I chose miniature golf. And, we all decided to go to the pool since we have yet to do any swimming despite the heat. So, we adventurously set forth to tackle all of these activities. We started off with a hike. Today we went to a different park of the park at the Greenbier entrance, not as mountainous and much more rustic.

Our trail ran us along Porter's Creek, which provided many opportunities to throw rocks and sticks. This also turned our quick two mile hike into an all-morning event. Along the way, we also discovered a cemetery dating back to the early 1900's, a rusty, dilapidated Model T, and a barn built in 1875. Upon exiting the park, we found a great spot to do some wading in the creek--perfect way to cool off. Back at the cabin, we also found a dip in the pool to be quite refreshing.

We had such a good time at the pool that we were sorry that we had not fit it in before today. We rounded out the day with some mini-golf at Hillbilly Golf; this is a great course at the top of a mountain. We have been passing it by all week, and I have wanted to go. Not as inspiring as some of the other courses I have played, but it was shady! Notice in the photo--I do take some liberties in my shots, helping them along with a kick or roll. We followed golf with a great dinner, a little shopping, and of course candy. It was a wonderful final day, but I told my parents that I was ready to go home to my toys. Thank you, Tennessee!
