Day Six on Thursday, August 4, 2011

Today was a day of play. This morning we went to Ober Gatlinburg, which in the wintertime is a ski resort. For us summer travelers, there are amusements and activities, including my favorite miniature golf, which we played twice. To get to Ober Gatlinburg, you must climb a big mountain, so we went up the easy way by aerial tram. Then, you can even go higher; we rode the ski lift to the top of Harrison Mountain. There we were greeted with some live blue grass music and fresh mountain air. I thought the ski lift was really cool. "It is a nice and quiet ride." We also rode the alpine slide, which was pretty cool, too. It is like a toboggan ride but on a dry track. Then, this evening we went to the Dixie Stampede. If you are in this part of the Tennessee, you can not escape without paying respect to Dolly Parton. Her Dixie Stampede is an exciting dinner and show, featuring lots of horse riding and country music. I ignored all food (and there was a ton of it!) and thoroughly enjoyed the show.
